How to Get Ahead Design-Wise Before the Holiday Season
With every new year comes the excitement of a fresh start. This could come in the form of setting personal goals, or, in your work life, by refreshing certain aspects of your business. In this post, we’ll share a few helpful tips on how to work ahead on design-related items while heading into the busy holiday season.
The big questions we recommend asking yourself are “what are my goals” and “why do I want this change?” Often, the answers fall into one or more of these categories:
01. I want a fresh start.
For some, it’s as simple as wanting their website or design collateral refreshed going into the new year. It can feel so reinvigorating to kick off a new chapter with fresh brand illustrations, a redesigned website homepage, or updated design pieces like social media templates and lead magnets. Sometimes this change is just what we need to feel energized and excited about the year ahead!
02. I need practical pieces.
Others may need more practical pieces for their business that are centered around the holidays. For example, some organizations like to send out physical holiday cards. This means the design work needs to be completed early so there is ample time for printing and signing the cards. Additional practical pieces could include digital and physical promotional pieces for Small Business Saturday or other date-specific events, updating a website page to reflect your holiday hours, or creating a year-in-review piece to share your successes with your audience.
03. My services or audience have changed.
Finally, the biggest transition might come after a year of learning and growth. Perhaps you need to re-evaluate your target audience or have decided to reimagine your service offerings going forward. With these larger-scale changes, you may want both a designer and a thought partner to help position your brand in its new light. Changes to your services or target audience could result in updates across your website, service offering brochure, and social media channels, to name a few. Rolling out big changes like these should be done thoughtfully, and with ample time to prep.
Notify your designer early–they’ll thank you for it!
If you plan to work with a design partner for these items, please book early! Like, September early. This will ensure you and your design partner have ample time for project strategy, design, and implementation. Not to mention, the excitement around the project will keep you buzzing during this busy time!
