Montessori Education Institute of the Pacific Northwest

The Montessori Education Institute of the Pacific Northwest inspires and instructs adult learners to be well-rounded Montessori teachers who are ready to change the world.

MEIPN approached us with a common problem: their brand and website did not feel like their business. It was stiff, difficult to update, and spoke nothing to their rich history as the primary Montessori teacher training facility of the Pacific Northwest. We worked with their team to create a brand that is welcoming and modern with an easy to update website that feels as inspiring as it is organized.

Brand Design

Our goal with the brand design was to clearly convey that MEIPN is for adult learners, not children. We drew inspiration from the colors and textures of the Pacific Northwest and paired those with Montessori education motifs. We created icons and shapes based on Montessori materials, then used those shapes to create their pine tree icon. To round out the brand design, we created background patterns that are highly textured and feel warm and hand-made.

Happenstance worked with us to understand who we are as an organization. The process to gain an understanding of our organization was valuable for the design process, but also for our organization to reflect on our values. The final product clearly demonstrates our values and invites others to dive deeper into our organization. If you’re looking for a personal touch, Happenstance is the place to go. Throughout the process there were check-ins and clear communication. We always knew what to expect and had a lot of fun exploring our design options with the Happenstance team. You’re truly well cared for and understood which comes across in the designs. Happenstance is the place to go for your design needs.

Squarespace Website Design

We began MEIPN’s website design process by reorganizing their existing content to simplify their navigation. Then, we used visual indicators like shape icons and program-specific color schemes to make it easy for visitors to find exactly what they are looking for. Finally, we provided MEIPN with guidelines on how to take custom photography for their new website to ensure all parts of their site feel cohesive and professional.
